Chapter 4 The S-Rank Dungeon
The next morning, alarms rang across Seoul on every screen at once. An S-rank dimensional gate appeared over the Gangnam area, turning the sky of the whole city a deep purple. Several monsters rushed out along the main roads. Minjun and the team he had only joined hands with a few days earlier were ordered to help defend the western district.
Yuna spoke in a grave voice. “No one on this team has ever entered an S-rank dungeon. You can follow if you want, but you answer for your own life.” Minjun nodded without a word, because he had seen that his status window was changing color rapidly, as if responding to this event.
Inside the gate, the road was replaced by layers of floating black stone, and a glowing stream flowed through midair. A monster as big as a three-story building stood blocking the way. Several B-rank hunter teams had fallen back because they couldn’t break its hide. Minjun noticed a small crack under its neck, through which red light still leaked.
He ran past a team that was falling and hurled the remaining bottles of mineral water from his bag at that crack. The water, vaporized by the red light, shot inside as white steam. The monster roared and thrashed its head wildly. Yuna saw the opening at once and cast an armor-piercing spell through the crack until it collapsed to the ground.
The system’s reward chime sounded in Minjun’s head with the message, “Surviving an S-rank dungeon is advanced point accumulation.” But no one on the team heard it. Yuna looked at him seriously and asked briefly, “How did you see that weak point just now?”
Minjun answered honestly, “I just looked at what seemed strange about it.” Yuna paused a moment before turning to order the team to pack up. “There may not really be anyone here who can do that, but if you can, I won’t leave you behind again.”
